The challenge
Apokus faced the challenge of delivering effective training that not only increased knowledge but also drove real changes in practice, particularly in communication skills. Scenario-based learning, crucial for enhancing these skills, was previously too resource-intensive to develop. Traditional role-playing methods were challenging to organize and execute in a busy pharmacy environment, making them impractical as the only option for large-scale implementation.
The solution
To tackle these challenges, Apokus partnered with We Are Learning to create interactive, scenario-based training modules. For a course on the correct use of nasal sprays, they aimed to address significant misuse issues and the difficulties employees face in discussing these products with customers. Using We Are, they developed digital role-playing scenarios that allowed employees to practice these conversations in a safe environment. Apokus employees wrote the scripts, animated the Stories, and recorded their own voices, transforming renowned communication expert Bård Fossli Jensen into a 3D character to guide employees through best practices.
The results
The implementation was a success, with 3,500 pharmacy employees completing the training in the first 4-6 weeks — 80% opting for the scenario-based approach, while 20% chose traditional role-playing. After the program launch, a survey (1-6) was distributed to evaluate its effectiveness, yielding overwhelmingly positive results.
These scores reflect the training's success in meeting objectives and the learners' satisfaction with the content and delivery. Employees particularly appreciated the flexibility to train anytime!
